Taking a break

Planning Your Summer

Summer break is designed to be just that: a break. Your time at Harvard can be challenging, and as such, you should feel empowered to take the time to recharge and gear up for the school year ahead. During the summer, ensure that you are eating well, getting enough rest, and doing things to energize your mind and body.

Here are five benefits associated with rest:

  1. Rest improves your memory.
  2. Rest will boost your energy.
  3. Rest will help you reduce stress.
  4. Rest improves your overall health.
  5. Rest can boost performance and creativity.

Traveling, spending quality time with loved ones, getting outdoors, checking off items on your bucket list, and resting can be some of the most beneficial things you can do to improve your overall health and ability to fully show up and engage the following fall semester. Don't feel bad about leaving all or part of your summer open. Downtime is essential to help you avoid college burnout!
